Carnevale!

The famous carneval of Venice is over - we were lucky enough to see the beatiful crowd of masks just two days before the flood...

It was our first 'organized' travel for a long time - and probably the one for a long time from now on too. We use to do our trips self-made, which gives us big degrees of freedom - organized (speaking of which, not so organized) ones does not.
On the other hand, you just have to jump on the plane / bus / boat / whatever and enjoy the ride...
...until the transmission of the bus goes wrong rendering our transport to have the highest speed of 60km/h.
Luckily, at least there was a spare to come for us, resulting than only a 2,5 hrs delay in the home-trip.
Anyway, at least the weather was dry - if even a bit of cloudy most of the day - and Venice is still beautiful.

Started our sightseeing on the small island of Burano - formerly known of fishermen and lace. The nice colorful houses are easy to view from distance - no, not a guerilla-ad of Benetton, but a help for the men to find the way home when drunk tired to do this other way.

An amazing little world within the canals around the city, hard to miss the island due to both the colorful view as well as the leaning tower of the church.

...and than, after a short break at Murano, to see the beautiful results of glass-making professionalism, came the main attraction - the carneval with all the masks and costumes!
Great thing is, that all the people wearing those breathtaking and mind blowing pieces of arts on themselves are willing to pose for a nice photo - doing so even at the end of the day, with same dedication and enthusiasm:

Of course, once there again, worth to have a walk to admire the lovely atmosphere of this unique city.
