City of traditions - London

Traditional and modern the same time, heart of the British empire: the good old London town. Been there first as a business visit, but knew in the first moment of getting in from the airport, we'll definitely visit in private too.

Greetings from London!

Since wanted to see the most possible in the visit of few days, we've done the homework well in advance (OK, it was mostly my wife actually :-))
Booked tickets to a Westend-show (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) - it was just awesome to see how they do it in the cradle of modern theater! When in London, don't miss the opportunity to get tickets to a musical.
The other great idea was to enroll to the 'Ceremony of the Keys' - this is the 'procedure' (though we could easily call it simply a 'show' like our guest conductor funnily did) when they close the Tower of London for the night.
In the past 700 years they do the process each and every night, not missing any of, shouting the well-known words 'Halt, who comes there?' - 'Keys!' ... into the night.
Great thing, that you can participate. Bad thing - or rather just a challenge to surmount - is that since this nice piece of history is really popular, you have to apply well in advance: count a month at least, but two if you want to be 100% sure.
To apply, well, you have to send a mail. On paper. With addressed reply-envelope included, British post-accepted stamps only. Did I mention about traditions? :-)
(Fortunately my local colleagues over there were so kind and helpful making it easy to us: thanks this way again!)

Even besides the 'must-see-once-there' attractions, there are many other lovely places in London: spare some of your time to take a walk at least one of the parks of London!
Hint: prepare with some hazelnuts or walnuts or even peanuts for the squirrels! Don't be afraid, they're brave enough to take it from your hand ;-)

Its nice experience to visit Greenwich - prepare for squirrels in the park there too!
The Sherlock Holmes museum takes you to the world of the most famous detective. Even while you know all the time visiting the different floors of the house (each room telling another of his stories), that he is a fictional character of Sir Doyle, you have the feeling that they just stepped out of the door moments before.

Spent there a wonderful time - not sure when will visit London next, but sure this wasn't the last time!
