Just participated in an event organized by Nike - a running-party they call it - with special guest star Carl Lewis. For those few not familiar with the name: he's not just an amazing, inspiring and still fit even being 51 (!) sportsman, but also holder of 9 olympic golds... Wow!
The event was organized on a registration basis - for the fiirst 500 only - luckily we were in that!
Started with some warm-up together (he and an instructor lady helped from stage) than lined up for a nice run: one round inside the stadium than out to the island (Margitsziget - Margaret island at Budapest) where you can find a nice soft rubberized running-track called 'the island-round' of ~5.5-5.6 km - than finished with another round in the stadium. All 500 people - in uninformed T-shirts like the one you can see on Carl up here - looked very impressive, passers were wondering all around :-)
It was a great experience and a nice workout - ran 6.21 km overall in 35.2 minutes - which means an average pace of 5.41 km/min. Not bad, was better and worse too, let's say I'm fine with for my very first crowd-run.
The show ended with a QA session after some stretching of course.
Thank you Carl for coming and inspiring - thank you Nike guys for organizing it!
