Yesterday' news

Living in an old house always has some surprises. There are bad surprises of course, like crappy pipes and plumbing, failing electricity or so. (Obviously this can happen too - the only way to escape is to get a full renewal of those: trust me, even with all these things 'hidden' in walls, it worth the effort and money, will payoff soon enough.)

But I'm talking about another kind of surprise: hidden treasure of the pirates!

...or at least a kind of, for me at least. :-)

Vintage newspaper - from 1936! / Régi újság - 1936-ból!

When we decided to replace the old windows and doors of our apartment, found a kind of treasure behind the framing: turned out, that at the time of inserting, the space between the brick wall and the wooden door / window frames were filled with small debris... ...and the old newspaper pages above and below!
It turned out this was the March 8th issue of 'Esti Kurír' (~ Evening Courier) from 1936!
Along with several interesting news about movie premiers (with celebs of the age :-)) and financial news, there are pages with vintage photos and local ads too! Real fun to read that.

Unfortunately at that time there were already unsettling news about the coming 'conflicts' led to WW2: the main pages are about preparations on both sides.

Apprehensions

Hope this will never happen again, and stays part of history only!
